Renewing Our Minds
I looked at the young people getting off the coach. It was impossible to tell which countries they came from. They looked just like young people from anywhere in the West! (with one or two exceptions!)
The following day after an eight o-clock start the course began in earnest.
The daily program started with large group sessions. Then after coffee either another large group or small discussion groups that went on until lunch at 1pm. The afternoon sessions began again at two and four pm, supper at 7pm and then more group work until 10pm!!
By Friday we were well and truly ready for a day’s break at the coast! Unfortunately the weather had been dreadful all week but this did not dampen the spirits of the young people who seemed to be really enjoying their time with new and old friends. Considering the majority of the young people were from countries that had once been at war with each other this was amazing.
One of the girls was celebrating her 21st birthday on that day so as we all gathered in a restaurant for pizza before home, we were able to share in her happiness and I can honestly say she was radiant.
I felt very privileged to be there to experience the very clear Christian message that was being presented. Many were agnostic, atheist or had no comprehension of who this Jesus was that they were using as a role model! I came home with a better understanding of the work they are trying to do at ROM and of the young people who attended feel more able now to pray with insight as to the needs.
