Catalysts for a change in Argentina
A few months before our visit in 2008 ten people had decided to plant a new church in my in-laws house. This is something that they have done twice before with great success. The meeting very quickly grew too large for the house and so they
began to pray that God would show them a way forward. As always God is faithful and he laid on their hearts the need for a building.
The two small problems that they faced were that they needed some land and they didn't have any money. Nevertheless they believed that God had given them a vision and so they began to save little bits of money. They managed to get to about 500 pesos but needed around 8000 pesos(about £1700). My
wife's father gave the top part of his land to the vision and we decided to give the balance to complete the project. Being at the other end of the world meant that praying and giving was the best way that we could partner with them.
My brother in law Rogelio organized a team to build. He is a builder and is also leading the church planting team.
The building went up very quickly and we arrived at the night of the dedication of the building.
Over a hundred people had turned up, the majority of who were not church people. It was amazing A leader of a local church to come and preach and
Rogelio and I led the worship and gave my testimony.
I love the way it opens doors for ministry for weeks to come.
After each service everyone is given at least one sandwich and one cup of tea. This is extremely important as for many
of them, especially the children and youths this is all or nearly all that they will eat that day. The church needs to have a balance between preaching, teaching and bringing people to Christ and looking after their physical needs, the book of James and Isaiah 58 make it clear.
