1 What do you mean by healing and wholeness?
Have you ever said to your doctor “I feel better now, but this still ….
You feel better than when you were really sick, but not as well as, say, a year ago.
This is my simple definition of Christian healing. “Feeling better but…” What is the real state that we would like to go back to? When we were 6 or 7, full of energy, able to bounce instead of fall and break a leg? When we had no worries over money or work? God’s ideal state for us to be in can be found in Genesis 3. We have the picture of Adam and Eve walking with God in the cool of the evening. No pain, no worries, no sin, no bad memories, perfect relationship with our Father God.
It soon went wrong.
Healing, to me, is any step back to this position. Physical pain free life, Peace of Mind, Perfect relationship with God. When we pray for you we expect God to move you back a little or a long way towards that condition.
2 Is my sickness a result of my sin?
Some diseases are directly caused by life style. Every packet of cigarettes carries a health warning. Every bottle containing alcohol should carry one. Then there are sexually transmitted diseases.
Stress worry and unforgiveness can cause problems.
If you catch flu or develop cancer or a host of other things the answer is NO, NO, NO. Jesus said to one man that his disease was a result neither of his sin nor his parents. (John 9v 3)
However our prayers for you include prayers for forgiveness for you and for those who pray for “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3v23).
3 Why does a loving God allow sickness?
Back to Genesis (FAQ 1) God wanted us to live in harmony with Him, each other and His creation. However Adam and Eve chose to walk away from God. That’s when sickness came.
