In January 2006, I and a colleague visited Myanmar and Cambodia where we have existing and new partner projects.  

We visited a long-time orphanage partnership on the edge of Yangon.  Recently re-located from inadequate premises into a brand-new building which WorldShare helped to fund, Bethel Home is a leading project of its kind in Myanmar, caring for children from diverse and sometimes desperate backgrounds.

We visited a second, smaller orphanage with 25 children in a poor area with a view to starting a further partnership to help needy children.  It is run by Word of Hope, a church planted in Yangon in 2000, which already has around 200 members, including many young adults. The church meets at the top of an apartment block in a city side street.

Please pray for Myanmar.  Many of its minority peoples in border and provincial regions are being brutally repressed by the Burmese military
