Open the Book.
Mission in Misson
Every Monday morning several cars pull up at Misson school our “Open the Book team” emerge with a mixture of props including boats, banners, puppets, sheep, trees, backdrops, dressing up outfits emerge to be put together into a presentation of the Bible for the children of Misson school.
We start with the Open the Book rhyme and then go into the story which maybe a narration with mime or actual acting, or perhaps a videoed news
report of some event in the Bible with ‘Live reporting’ in the hall, any thing is possible!
We enjoy a wonderful welcome from the school staff and pupils, and have been very encouraged by the feedback from the children. Particularly when they come and tell us they have got a Bible and have read the story we have told in it!
The programme lasts 3 years using stories, drama, puppets, video and poetry to give an overview of the teaching of the Bible, with interaction from the children.
Not the three wise men!
Our star cast are the three widows found in Ruth.
Will I have to travel alone?
No! Ruth... and God... go with me.
“A New Team, A new school”
“It was a privilege to go with the newest 'Open The Book' Team to Bawtry Mayflower School this month, and a great joy and excitement too. The team in Misson has been going for several years now and we have been praying for an opportunity to begin Opening the Bible in the Bawtry School for that whole time. The 2 assemblies done so far have been well received by children and staff and we feel very welcome in the school. Praise God for answered prayers , in His time, when 'all things work together'.”
