Argentina is a country in South America. It can be found at the most south easterly part of the continent. It is a very large country, about 12 times the size of Britain. The length of Argentina stretches from above the tropic of Capricorn in the north to about 600 miles from Antarctica in the south covering a total area of 1,068,301 square miles. Argentina also claims the Falkland Islands or Las Malvinas to Argentina. Also a 49 degree slice of Antarctica is claimed. These two areas cover a further 481,777 square miles.
It's a big place!
The landscape of Argentina varies massively. In the east you have the great prairies known as la pampas, most of this is little over 200 meters above sea level. Then in the west there are one of the worlds greatest mountain ranges, The Andes. These cover the whole length of Argentina

and most of the length of South America. It is the longest mountain range in the world. The mountain of Aconcagua in the province of Mendoza reaches a staggering height of nearly 23000 feet. It is the worlds highest trekking mountain. In the north east of the country there are the great Iguazu falls. In terms of volume of water flowing over it, it is the largest in
the world boasting some 200 falls covering about a 4 mile stretch. In the south can be found some of the worlds greatest glaciers and in the south east the Atlantic coastline covers some 2500 miles. Argentina seems to have it all.

side. There is little evidence that this will change. As always in South America the problem of corruption at a political level and in the police force is a problem that dogs the country, always effecting it's political and economic stability. This in tern sadly causes a problem for the people. They are a people that are very prepared and generally warm and hard working but are most of the time faced with a situation that offers them little or no opportunity. There are many stories of say doctors that also drive taxis so that they can live and doctors that have no work and so find themselves after studying driving a taxi for a living.
